Porter’s new Kelowna – Ottawa route connects the Okanagan to our nation’s capital

Connecting the Okanagan Valley with our nation's capital and eastern Canada

Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Porter Airlines are excited to announce the launch of a new direct route between Kelowna and Ottawa. Service begins on May 13, 2026, with five weekly roundtrip flights, connecting the Okanagan Valley with our nation’s capital and eastern Canada like never before.

“Kelowna is excited to welcome our first-ever direct route to Ottawa with Porter Airlines,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “This new connection to our nation’s capital marks another milestone in the ongoing growth of Kelowna International Airport. It strengthens our ties to Eastern Canada, supports local businesses, boosts our economy, and showcases Kelowna’s increasing appeal as a premier destination.”

The new service will be served by Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, complementing their existing flights to Toronto. The E195-E2 has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip in its class and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today. The two-by-two configuration means no middle seats on any Porter flight.

The flight schedule for the Kelowna – Ottawa route beginning May 13 is outlined below:

RouteDepartureArrival
Ottawa (YOW) to Kelowna (YLW)9:50 a.m.11:45 a.m.
Kelowna (YLW) to Ottawa (YOW)12:40 p.m.8:00 p.m.

Connecting flights to Halifax and St. John’s will be available, providing more connecting options for Okanagan residents to explore eastern Canada.

“With our growing presence in Kelowna, and connections through our eastern network in Ottawa and Toronto, it is even easier for travellers to explore all that Canada has to offer,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.

“We’re excited to see Porter Airlines grow its air services at YLW. This direct flight between Kelowna and Ottawa improves connectivity and supports new opportunities for tourism and business in the Okanagan,” says Sam Samaddar, Kelowna International Airport CEO. “We look forward to the positive impacts this new route will bring and are appreciative to Porter Airlines for their confidence in our region.”

Porter’s onboard experience provides every passenger with complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, a selection of Canadian premium snacks, and free, fast streaming WiFi.
